Stash Enhancing

Kauni yarns

This is some Kauni Effektgarn 8/2 that I bought at Tricolaine, Carouge when I was in Geneva 2 weeks ago. Annelis, the owner is a wonderful person. I met her 2 years ago when I was on vacation there and had the chance to be a be able to spend a couple afternoons knitting with her. You can see a picture of her holding my Kureyon sock if you click here (make sure to look at her gorgeous sweater – I’ll have to ask her what the pattern is). I don’t know yet what I’ll be doing with the Kauni yarn, probably some lace when I have time for that sort of thing. In the mean time it will just grace my stash with their beauty. (The skein on the right has stripes of brown, blues and burgundies like this.)

New accessories

I’ve finally purchased a tensioned lazy-kate and a larger niddy-noddy for myself. The lazy-kate was ordered for me by Debbie from Iron Horse Farm and I bought the niddy-noddy from Mind’s Eye Yarns at their booth at the Gore Place sheepshearing festival in Waltham, MA back in April.

Sewing project underway

Time for some sewing

I finally cut up my pattern pieces for the Frenchy Bag. This was back on Sunday and I haven’t had a chance to do more. I really wanted to have finished this week but I don’t know that it’s going to happen.

Special Swap Sweet Treats

Special Swap Sweet Treats package

I received yesterday my Special Swap Sweet Treats swap package from Yarn Yenta. She sent me an assortment of fun goodies including a muffin mix, cute patterns for felted toy animals, a chibi and a tape measure. I’d been wanting a chibi for a while now and now I have my own!

On the left you will notice my Noro Kureyon Sock. It’s knitting up fairly well. The yarn is rough and has uneven spots here and there but I’m not disliking the process at all. There was a break in the stripe continuation mid-heel and at first I just knit it like that. Then, after having started the leg I just ripped it all out and decided to keep the striping sequence and split-splice the yarn together. This is the sock that I will be bringing on my trip to TNNA tomorrow. Donna and I are driving out to Columbus, OH for the show. We’ll both be driving so there will be time for some knitting. I’m really excited about going to the show, I think that it will be crazy but super interesting. We’ll be stopping here and there at some yarn shops so if you know of any in the area, make sure to let me know! I’ll be back Tuesday with details about the trip! The sock on the right is a Rococo sock by Knitspot knit in O-Wool Classic 2-ply. I only have 8 rows left to knit and then I can bind off. The pattern is very fun and interesting without being difficult. I love how the sock looks and I’m looking forward to having a pair.

So this is what’s going on at Knitting In Pink’s. I hope that once all these trips are over that I’ll have a bit more time for crafting and blogging and will be able to post more often.

Talk to you next week!

Sweet Treat Survey for Special Swap

26 03 2008
Let’s talk about sweets today!

1. What were your three favorite treats in your Halloween bag?
I’ve never really celebrated Halloween but I would have to say that my favorite treats would be Peanut M&Ms, Twix and Skor bars.

Little chocolate sheepies

2. What were the three treats that you would trade away?
I guess I would trade away any kind of peppermint patty, peanut butter cups or Hersey’s chocolate.

3. Do you bake?
Yes, yes!

4. Do you order dessert in a restaurant? If so, what is your favorite dessert?
I love the molten chocolate cakes! Especially Finale‘s Molten Chocolate.

5. Tell me about your favorite Candy-colored yarns, and what candy are they inspired from?
This yarn is Sunshine Yarns in Mocha. I just love the chocolatey color, it makes me want to eat chocolate!

6. When you knit a special “icing on the cake” accessory for your outfit, would you knit …… socks, a scarf, a hat or a bag?
Socks of course!

7. Describe the perfect ice cream sundae.
Soft serve vanilla ice-cream, warm chocolate brownies and lots of warm chocolate syrup.

8. Are there any knitting treats that you would love to add to your collection?
A book you would like for your library?
I’d love the Book of Yarn by Clara Parkes or the book Folk Socks by Nancy Bush

A knitting gadget for your notions bag?
I would love to try out the Harmony dpns from Knit Picks… I especially would like the 2.5mm : )

A sweet yarn?
I would love some handspun sock yarn, because I’m still quite far from being able to spin my own!

Roving that looks like Cotton Candy

9. Think about the best homemade dessert from Mom or Grandma. Do you have the recipe to share? I don’t really have a recipe to share but when I was a kid my grandma would pick raspberries from her garden and serve it with freshly whipped cream and sugar. That was really the best!

10. What local or regional treats would you insist your swap partner try if she visited your town? According to a recent Family Guy episode (I don’t watch that show but DH does) there is a Twinkie factory in Natick, the town next door. Other than that I would really suggest a trip to the local above-mentioned Finale, they do have the best desserts.

The wickedest chocolate trifle

Not a Finale dessert but a Chocolate Trifle I make sometimes. It feels like you’re eating 3 tons of chocolate but it’s so good!

11. Cupcakes….talk amongst yourselves.
I’m not sure what this question means but I’ll assume it’s asking me what I think about cupcakes… Lynne, let me know if I’m wrong! I like cupcakes, especially chocolate cupcakes! I don’t particularly enjoy frosting so I like my cupcakes plain!

Special Swap – Christmas theme

28 12 2007

Last Friday I received my Special Swap package from Beth of Felt Like Knitting. She was hoping I would get it before Christmas and she definitely came through!

The box had these cute little snowman and snowflakes all over it and when I opened the box this is what I saw:

All prettily wrapped up!

After a few minutes of unwrapping, this is what I found:

Special Swap package - Christmas Theme

First there were chocolates, hot chocolate mixes, a Lindt chocolate snowman and Christmas tea. Then I found snowflake shaped cookie cutter and a beautiful pink, red and silver ornament. Then I found a beautiful pair of Fetchings knit in Rio de la Plata yarn in Carnation Pink.

Beautiful Fetchings for me!

Last but not least were these two books, one of which I’d be dying to get since September. I think you can guess which one it is… I can’t wait to try out these new sock architectures!

2 awesome books

Thank you Beth for such a wonderful swap! I do hope you get your package before New Year’s!
